Kevin De Bruyne confirms stance on Man City future after collecting another award

Kevin De Bruyne gave an unprompted boost to Manchester City's future transfer plans as he declared himself committed to the club for at least another three years.

De Bruyne recovered from an injury-affected start to the season to play a key role in helping City pip Liverpool to another Premier League title - his fourth at the club. His end-of-season form earned him the Premier League Player of the Year for a second time, and he followed that up with a fourth City Player of the Year.

His club award was announced at City's title-winning parade in front of thousands of fans in Manchester city centre, and the Belgian gave an unprompted update on his future plans when asked about his reaction to another accolade.

De Bruyne extended his contract last year until 2025, and although there have been no suggestions that he wouldn't honour that deal, he is clearly a player at the peak of his powers and if he wanted to leave there would be a long queue of clubs wanting to sign him.

So it's a boost for City to hear that De Bruyne has no intention of going anywhere before his deal expires in 2025, when he will have just turned 34.

Speaking on stage at Monday's celebrations, De Bruyne was asked to praise the other two nominees for the Player of the Year award - Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva.

"Honestly, give it to either of them, they push me all the way," he replied, before offering that unexpected update on his future.

"I've been here seven years, I love them, this is my team. I've got another three years here, I'm definitely going to stay. This is where I want to be, where I want to win trophies, this is where we want to go."
