Kevin Dabrowski overcome with Hibs emotion as he delivers 'never give up' message after long awaited debut

Debuting Kevin Dabrowski struggled to put into words how much his first Hibs appearance meant to him after a goalless Edinburgh derby.

Hearts made life difficult for the goalkeeper on his first appearance as he was thrown in at the deep end to replace injured stopper Matt Macey.

But Shaun Maloney was rewarded for his faith in the 23-year-old after a series of fine saves to earn a valuable point at Easter Road.

Dabrowski, who has been shipped out on loan the lower leagues with spells at Cowdenbeath, Dumbarton and Berwick since joining from Lech Poznan, was visibly emotional when handed the Man of the Match award.

Dabrowski told Sky Sports: "It couldn't get any better than this (in terms of) a goalkeeping performance.

"Clean sheet, saves, unfortunately we didn't win the game but I'm really happy I could contribute and help the team win the game and get a crucial point.

"I've been waiting for this moment for a couple of years. There has been a couple of ups and downs, I've been on the bench 40 times and have not been used.

"The amount of times I've been told I might play and I might not, but I never gave up and tried to work hard. I knew that the moment would come eventually.

"I did my best every day to get it."

"Excitement, pressure and nerves and that was the perfect way to be fully concentrated to get a point."
