Kevin Costner uses the 'ultimate color choice for interiors' in his kitchen – it masters a top 2025 trend that's 'guided by the calm of nature'

If you asked any design expert for the safest kitchen color, you would likely hear the same recurring answer: white. However, playing it safe doesn't necessarily translate to boring. Kevin Costner's space is an example of this.

The Yellowstone actor offered a glimpse of a corner of his color-drenched white kitchen, featuring a veined marble countertop, a herringbone backsplash, and cabinets in a creamier hue. It's a failsafe look we've seen many celebrities use before, but that doesn't mean it's vanilla. This year, white kitchens are more fashionable than ever, with design experts noting how they tap into a 'calming' kitchen trend that brings a sense of earthiness and serenity to the most functional room of your home.

'The kitchen space continues to be guided by the calm of nature and this year’s palette is embracing a neutral use of colour across the fixtures and fittings,' comments Paul Illingworth, the design manager at Adobe.

'White is predicted as the standout shade to emerge this year, offering a new take on warm neutrals and earth-tone paint colours where the colour white is being used to create a strong style identity across the kitchen wash zone with the sink, mixer taps, instant hot water taps, and even handsprays.'

Upgrading your kitchen doesn't need to involve a new marble countertop or cabinets. You can still bring elements of Kevin's style to your kitchen with our edit of white accessories. These will look beautiful in any space, whatever color you're already working with.

The calming qualities of a white kitchen may be influencing design decisions for 2025, but there may also be a financial gain to following Kevin's example – especially if you're looking to sell your home.

'The most popular paint color overall remains white, and for good reason. It’s the safest, easiest shade to work with, allowing furniture and décor to stand out,' says licensed realtor Judi Kutner. 'White walls create an illusion of more space and make any home look clean and fresh. I’ve seen hundreds of staged homes, and those with white or off-white walls tend to sell faster because buyers can easily picture themselves in the space.'

Kevin's combination of varying white shades, seen across his kitchen tiles, counters, and cabinets, is the perfect way to experiment with the color without it feeling too clinical. However, when layering shades of white, it really is hard to go wrong.

'Whether it’s a crisp, bright white or a soft, warm white like Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace, it remains the ultimate choice for interiors. It’s adaptable, timeless, and always in demand,' Judi says. Let Kevin Costner's space be your blueprint, and go from there.
