Kevin Costner, 69, is embarking on a new venture by establishing a film studio in St. George, Utah, named Territory Film Studios. The studio, set to be constructed near Utah's Zion National Park, will cover 152,750 square feet of studio space at an industrial complex close to the city's airport. Plans include a 'Costner-themed' restaurant that will also provide catering services.
The decision to build the studio stemmed from Costner's experience filming his upcoming series, Horizon: An American Saga, in Utah. The first installment of the series is scheduled for a June 28 release, with the sequel following in August. Costner's interest in the area grew as he faced challenges finding suitable filming locations.
Costner's fondness for Utah was evident as he expressed his love for the state during the filming of Horizon. He intends to return to St. George for the production of the series' third and fourth parts. The actor has been working on the Horizon project in various capacities since 1988.
Simultaneously, Costner finalized his divorce from ex-wife Christine, with whom he shares three children. The couple, who married in 2004, reached an amicable settlement in September, agreeing on joint custody of their children. The divorce was officially concluded in February, with both parties excused from a co-parenting course.
Aside from his film studio and personal life, Costner is also working on an upcoming feature film that he will star in and produce. The movie, based on a script owned by Costner, is a long-standing passion project for the actor. Director Ariel Vromen, who collaborated with Costner on previous projects, is set to helm the upcoming film.
