Kevin Clancy referee for Celtic vs Rangers with Nick Walsh in charge of VAR for derby

Kevin Clancy will be the man in the middle for Saturday's Old Firm clash.

The experienced referee has been handed the job for the third league meeting between Celtic and Rangers when the Hoops, already nine points clear, will effectively wrap up the title with a victory while the Ibrox men are desperately seeking a morale-boosting victory especially as the sides met in the Scottish Cup semi-final on April 29.

Nick Walsh, who has handled two derbies this season without any major incidents, will be in control of VAR for the Parkhead showdown. Clancy has handled three of these games and Rangers have won them all.

Rangers boss Michael Beale has previously accused Clancy of cheating and being biased against them (and subsequently serving a five-match ban after being charged by the Scottish FA), later clarifying his remarks after a 2-1 win for his side at Celtic Park in February 2020.

"I called the referee's integrity into question and have accepted that I could not accuse him of cheating," Beale said.
