Kerry Katona 'takes health into own hands' as she undergoes full MRI scan for scoliosis

Reality TV star Kerry Katona has given fans a health update as she reveals she's 'taken her health into her own hands' following her scoliosis diagnosis.

The 42-year-old star has now undergone a full MRI scan after she revealed last month that she had been diagnosed with the condition which affects the curvature of the spine.

Previously describing her symptoms as being left 'crippled' in pain, Kerry shared her diagnosis on social media.

In her next step on her health journey she's now taking her health into her own hands as she's undergone private health treatment with a full body MRI scan to detect pathology across her body.

Sharing an update on Instagram to fans, Kerry wrote: "So I have recently been diagnosed with scoliosis. I am now taking my health into my own hands.

"I have gone for a full body MRI that is looking for and can detect pathology in the head/neck, spine, abdomen and pelvis with @pallmall medical.

"It’s so important to take your health into your own hands, with no NHS referral needed to make an appointment at Pall Mall.

"An MRI scan is a painless and safe procedure, they help to diagnose medical conditions with greater accuracy.

"Leading to more successful treatment of patients suffering from a wide range of conditions that affect the brain, spine and nervous system."

She continued as she encouraged others that "can afford to go private, go private", in order to take the strain off the NHS.

However many followers then accused the star of "bashing" the NHS with her post. One follower commented: "Sounds like you are bashing the NHS instead of trying to improve it you are joining in and promoting privatisation."

Another wrote: "I work in nhs and yes it's failing due to consistent bad management/funding. Can I ask do you think it's wise to put this post up or are you getting paid to do so? Not a good look for you Kerry".

"Not many ppl can afford private," said a third.

The scan comes as Kerry received her diagnosis last month after previously revealing she was in severe pain across her hip joints and was close to taking herself to the nearest Accident & Emergency department.

Opening up in her weekly column for OK! Magazine, the I'm A Celebrity star shared the health news.

"I was diagnosed with scoliosis last week, after having trouble with my back," she said after being left in tears on a regular basis.

Kerry continued: "I went to a chiropractor and had an X-ray, which showed that half of my brain doesn't work like the other half.

"Honestly, I've been in such a bad way, but thankfully, I’m now on a recovery plan which has been much better."
