Kerry Katona has revealed that despite being left feeling suicidal from the pressures of fame, she is keen to bring her children into the spotlight.
The Celebs Go Dating star spoke openly about the dark times in her life and the mental state she found herself in, before expressing sympathy for young reality TV stars in a social media age.
Her comments come just days after the tragic death of former Love Island star Mike Thalassitis who took his own life near his home earlier this month. He was 26.
“There have been times in my life where ending it all seemed like the easier option, but there’s always another way,” Katona told OK! magazine.
“It’s so hard when young people who have just got into this industry can’t handle social media and people’s opinions.”
But despite the pressures that come with fame, Katona revealed that she would love to be the “next Kris Jenner” and have a Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s type show of her own.
“I’d love my own reality show with the kids,” the mother-of-five told the publication.
Katona shares Molly, 17, and Lilly-Sue, 16, with ex-husband and Westlife star Brian McFadden. She is also mum to Heidi, 12, and Maxwell, 10, with former spouse Mark Croft, and four-year-old Dylan-Jorge with George Kay.
The former Atomic Kitten singer appeared on the most recent series of Celebs Go Dating but came to realise that she was happy being single after failing to find her perfect match.
The star rocked up to the final party in Tenerife alone but said she was “feeling liberated” by her single status and “wasn’t ready” to settle down with another man just yet.
She said: “It’s massively liberating not to be thinking about men. Everyone expects Kerry Katona to be in a relationship but I think they're going to be really shocked.
“You saw a different side of me at the mixer. It was like, 'I can't do it.' I just didn't think I was ready, but having Paul and Anna there to help me just a little bit, it was liberating.”
