Kerry Katona felt 'calm' when her mum suffered heart attack as she was 'expecting it'

Kerry Katona has revealed that she was expecting her beloved mum to suffer a heart attack due to her bad health.

The former Atomic Kitten singer, 41, revealed that she felt 'calm' when her mum was hospitalised because she was in the right place with the right people.

The mum-of-five is now caring for her beloved mum at her own home, and has confirmed that she's thankfully on the mend.

Lifting the lid on her mums health scare, Kerry gushed over how proud that Sue has quit smoking and alcohol since her scare.

"My mum Sue sadly suffered a heart attack. Thankfully she’s on the mend and I’m at her place looking after her," Kerry wrote in her latest column for OK! Magazine.

"My mum isn’t in the greatest of health and this has been a massive wake-up call for us. DJ is only eight, and she wants to spend more time with her nan.

"Mum was told her vessels were blocked due to her unhealthy lifestyle. When something like this happens, you have to make changes and focus on your health. I’m super proud of her because she hasn’t had a cigarette in seven days.

"She hasn’t had an alcoholic drink either. If you knew my mum, you’d know that is a huge achievement."

Kerry went on to reveal that she knew it was 'only a matter of time' until her mother suffered a heart attack.

"I’ve always said it’s not a matter of if my mum has a heart attack, it’s a matter of when," she told.

"When I found out she was in hospital, I actually felt very calm. I normally panic in those situations, but I think it’s because I’ve been expecting it.

"I knew she was in the best place and with the right people. In a way I was relieved it had happened, because it meant she was finally in a hospital. It’s a nightmare to even get her to a doctor’s appointment."

Kerry went on: "We need to make some changes now. I think we need to get my mum out of the house more and get her to be a bit more active. She never wants to go through that pain again.

"And I would never want her to go through that pain again. She lives on her own and I would hate to think of it happening again."
