Kerry Katona has cleared the air after a bizarre online rumour claimed she was in a romantic relationship with her longtime friend Katie Price. The 44-year-old former Atomic Kitten star took to her New! Magazine column to set the record straight after spotting a post on Facebook that went viral for all the wrong reasons.
The post, which made its rounds on social media, claimed: “After the surprising news last week that singer Katie Price has come out as lesbian. She has now confirmed she’s dating former Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona. She says that Kerry fills the hole in her life that was always missing”, reported the Mirror.
Laughing off the claim, Kerry wrote: “There’s a joke article going around Facebook that Katie Price and I are in a relationship, which I just want to confirm is definitely, definitely not true! I have no idea where it has come from but it’s quite hilarious, I’ve heard it all now.”
She continued with her usual humour, adding: “We are good friends, but I’m not sure we’d work so well together romantically. Plus, I’ve never been with a woman before. Although with the way my dating life is currently going, maybe it’s something to try out…”
Kerry has been single since her split from fiancé Ryan Mahoney back in November, and she’s been focusing on herself while leaning on close friends — including Katie — as she navigates single life again. Meanwhile, Katie has been loved up with Married at First Sight star JJ Slater for over a year.
The pair have a well-known friendship and often spend time together with their kids. Just last Christmas, Katie and her son Harvey joined Kerry at her Cheshire home for the holidays.
Kerry also recently jumped to Katie’s defence after she faced backlash for promoting Supreme CBD products on Instagram. Katie had shared a video featuring Anthony Fowler’s partner, Serena, who claimed their daughter’s tumour had shrunk after using the CBD oil. The post sparked outrage online, with many questioning the claims being made.
But Kerry stood by her friend, writing: “I’ve seen that Supreme CBD has been getting lots of bad press over the last week since my friend Katie Price began promoting it… I’ve been working with the brand and Anthony for years and I absolutely love it.”
She added: “No one is claiming that CBD can cure cancer, they are simply saying that it helped his daughter. I introduced Katie to the brand and, if I’m honest, I think people just like to be negative towards her, no matter what the situation is.”
