Kerry Katona became very emotional when talking on Loose Women about her abusive relationship on Tuesday, October 11, saying she'd "let my kids down". Kerry was married to rugby league player George Kay for three years when she was a victim of domestic abuse. The 42-year-old was physically abused by George who strangled her, spat on her, and kicked her.
They separated after three years of marriage in 2014 and in 2019 George died after a drug overdose. Kerry has spoken about the abuse in her new memoir, Kerry Katona: Whole Again.
Former Atomic Kitten star Kerry - who was a winner of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! and had her own MTV reality TV shows - appeared on the ITV daytime show to talk about her memoir and became very emotional when discussing the abuse she faced. Breaking down in tears she said she felt ashamed she remained in the relationship and was worried about what she was teaching her children.

She said: "There's the shame as well, there's such a shame that I held onto it for so long because I feel like I let my kids down. Because I know that they are messed up because of it as well."
Kerry has five children, two with first husband Westlife star Brian McFadden, Molly and Lilly, two with second husband Mark Croft, Heidi and Maxwell, and DJ with George. Brian and Kerry married in 2002 but separated in 2004 and she went on to wed Mark in 2007 but after a rocky marriage they divorced in 2011.
Kerry also spoke about how her mum was suspicious of abuse while she was in the relationship with George. She said: "It's so difficult because my mum said she was waiting for the police to knock on the door to say he killed me."
