More pre-poll results have emerged in the race for lord mayor and independent Ross Kerridge's lead has continued to grow.
Pre-poll results from Newcastle, Adamstown, Mayfield, Merewether, Wallsend and Fletcher have been recorded on Monday.
While Labor's Nuatali Nelmes claimed 173 more pre-poll votes than Dr Kerridge at Fletcher and 320 at Wallsend, Dr Kerridge won the Adamstown early voting booth by 801 votes, Newcastle by 883 votes, Merewether by 634 votes and Mayfield by 119 votes.
The results have put Dr Kerridge on 34.36 per cent and Ms Nelmes on 32.15 per cent. He holds a lead of about 2000 first preference votes.
Almost 92,000 votes have been recorded. Newcastle has 126,400 electors.
The results of the New Lambton pre-poll booths are yet to be recorded.
At the end of counting on Saturday night, Dr Kerridge had 33.04 per cent of the vote to Ms Nelmes' 32.28 per cent.
Dr Kerridge was behind for most of the count on Saturday night, before just taking the lead about 10pm when counting stopped.
No counting took place on Sunday.
