T'PURAM: The state reported 11,136 cases from 60,414 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is at 18.43%.
With 69 more deaths in the past few days being recorded as Covid deaths and 77 deaths added from the appeals received, the death toll has climbed to 62,199.
The total active cases are 1,60,330, of which 4.1% of the people are admitted either in hospitals or other treatment centres. At the same time, 32,004 patients have recovered.
Of the new cases, 10,331 got infected through local contact and the source for 668 is unknown. Among those who had come from outside the state, 56 tested positive and 81 healthcare workers also tested positive on the day.
Ernakulam reported the highest number of cases - 1,509, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (1,477), Kollam (1,061), Kottayam (1,044), Kozhikode (991), Thrissur (844), Pathanamthitta (649), Alappuzha (640), Kannur (599), Idukki (597), Malappuram (557), Palakkad (462), Wayanad (447) and Kasaragod (259).
