KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday said it will consider the anticipatory bail plea filed by actor-producer Vijay Babu in the rape case against him only after the summer vacation.
In the bail plea, Vijay has contended that the allegation raised by the young actress is false and that the case is intended to threaten and blackmail him. A case was registered by police against him without enquiring whether the allegations are true or not, the actor argues.
Though the pre-arrest bail plea came up for admission hearing before Justice Ziyad Rahman AA, the case was postponed for hearing after the ongoing summer vacation, which will end on May 17.
As per the bail plea filed by the actor, the actress used to make calls to his phone frequently seeking a role in the film being produced by him after acting in a commercial prepared for Kerala Police. He had told the actress repeatedly that it is the film director who chooses the actors through audition and not him. It was through such an audition that the actress got a role in a film produced by him, the plea said.
The actress tried to keep close contact with him and used to make calls and messages to him even at odd hours. Such actions were despite knowing about the details of his family, Vijay's petition said. He now realizes that she was doing so to get more opportunities in films, the actor contends while stating that he has stored all the messages sent by her and is willing to share them with the police. The messages are sufficient to prove that her allegations are wrong and he is willing to cooperate with the probe, the bail plea stated.
