Kerala artist among 2 held in Goa police’s narco raids

PANAJI: In two separate raids, Goa police have arrested two persons, including an artist, for possessing narcotic substances and have seized contraband worth Rs 22 lakh. Deputy superintendent of police Nerlon Albuquerque said a 27-year-old Kerala resident, Serin Sageer, was caught at Guirim on Sunday. The haul recovered from him is suspected to be LSD cubes (21.20 grams) and ganja (50 grams) worth Rs 21 lakh.

Albuquerque said the accused had been placed under surveillance a few days ago and his movements were being monitored. A decoy customer was arranged and the trap was sprung when Sageer came with the drugs for delivery.

“The accused is an artist by profession and has been residing in Goa for the past four years,” Albuquerque said. “The linkages relating to the seized drugs are being established. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Rohan Madgaonkar.”

On Saturday, cops from the Panaji town police station raided a site behind Old Secretariat and caught a 35-year-old Andhra Pradesh resident, Mahender Rajender, for the alleged possession of ganja weighing 1,108 grams, worth Rs 1 lakh.

North Goa superintendent of police Nidhin Valsan said investigations have revealed that Rajender was previously arrested by Kachiguda police of Hyderabad for possessing ganja.
