Kepa gives verdict on Todd Boehly appearance after Brighton amid 'embarrassing' Chelsea claim

Kepa Arrizabalaga has insisted it is normal for Todd Boehly to appear in the dressing room after games amid reports detailing the Chelsea co-owner's comments to the whole squad after defeat to Brighton. The latest disappointing result arrived for the Blues on Saturday afternoon as they were handily beaten by Roberto De Zerbi's side, with Chelsea now losing their last three games in a row.

Conor Gallagher had put the hosts in front but a Danny Welbeck header and Julio Enciso thunderbolt turned the game around with the Seagulls coming out victorious. Despite the dismissal of Graham Potter, the form of the Blues has not improved with defeats to Real Madrid and Wolves coming in the two games prior to the Stamford Bridge loss against Brighton.

Following the weekend defeat to the Seagulls, the Daily Telegraph revealed that Boehly had headed down to the Chelsea dressing room to deliver a pre-Real Madrid rallying cry. Their report also says that Boehly described the current situation at Chelsea, in terms of results and the Blues sitting 11th in Premier League table, as "embarrassing".

With Frank Lampard's team comfortably out of the race for European football, the outcome of the 2022/23 season rests solely on the Champions League, with the second leg to come this Tuesday. To advance into the semi-finals, the Blues must overturn a two-goal deficit against Madrid.

In an attempt to focus on some positives, Boehly was said to have explained to the players the importance of Tuesday's game, especially for the fans. Ahead of the Madrid clash, Kepa was the player chosen to undertake press conference responsibilities and when asked about Boehly being in the dressing room after the Brighton clash, the Spaniard played down the situation.

"Todd came to the changing rooms, every game, he had different chat with us," he said. "I'm not going to say what he said but it's normal when he came to the changing room."

Later in the day, Lampard was also asked about the American businessman coming into the dressing room, where he revealed he was a keen advocate of his decision to do so. "I am comfortable with that," he said. "There is maybe some criticism of our old owner of not coming to games and being around that wasn't always true.

"I remember moments as a player of owners first coming into dressing rooms, I remember being happy. I don't think it's a bad thing. I had my things to say, an owner wants to come in and be positive and speak to the player, they can do that. No problem with that, it shows passion and that's the first thing that I like."
