At least five people shot dead during Kenya protests

At least five people have been killed during huge protests in the Kenyan capital Nairobi. Police and demonstrators clashed over planned tax increases. 

Meanwhile in Togo, medical assistants in Togo are voicing their anger over a lack of recognition and a shortage of doctors, especially in rural areas. They've stopped working for the past month. As a result, many maternity wards can no longer handle emergency obstetric surgeries. Our team on the ground reports.

Finally, in Mauritania, a dress style known as the Meulfeu has become all the rage in recent years, even spreading to other countries in the region too. Colourful fabrics are wrapped around the head and body in a very particular way. Our regional correspondents report.
