A food company has chosen Kentucky for a facility that will employ more than 900 people, making it the fifth-largest jobs project since Governor Andy Beshear took office. Kitchen Food Co., an Australia-founded premium ready-meals business, will establish a prepared foods facility in Hopkinsville, creating 925 jobs with a $69 million investment. Hopkinsville is located about 170 miles southwest of Louisville, Kentucky.

Governor Beshear highlighted that Kentucky's economic momentum is strong, with 170 private sector new-location and expansion announcements this year totaling over $6.9 billion in investments and 9,425 new full-time jobs. Since assuming office in late 2019, the state has seen record private-sector investments, with an average incentivized hourly wage exceeding $26 for three consecutive years.

The governor emphasized that Kentucky is now viewed as a premier business destination, marking a significant shift in perceptions. He expressed pride in the state's economic achievements, stating that it is a special time to be a Kentuckian.

Looking ahead to 2025, Governor Beshear outlined his priorities, which include jobs, infrastructure, education, and healthcare. He also hinted at potential future political aspirations, as he is among the Democratic governors speculated as contenders for the party's presidential nomination in 2028.

Beshear emphasized the importance of selecting a pragmatic Democratic nominee who can deliver tangible results, focusing on issues such as affordable healthcare, public education, and community safety. He stressed the need for a candidate with a proven track record of improving the country's infrastructure.
