Kentucky public health commissioner says CDC COVID changes anticipated

Kentucky’s public health commissioner anticipates a change in COVID case data later this spring. The national coronavirus public health emergency is slated to end on May 11th. Dr. Steven Stack said the information from the CDC will decline and the community-level COVID maps may go away.

“There may be the guidance that specifically says if you are in a high-risk population, if you yourself are at high-risk that you should take additional steps as you determine are necessary and those steps are the following,” said Stack

While hospitalization rates for COVID are around the lowest during the pandemic, Stack says coronavirus deaths still number 40 to 60 a week.
