There is a new way to report foodborne illnesses in Kentucky. The commonwealth has launched a new website where people can report food related illness directly to state officials.
Dr. Steven Stack is Kentucky’s Public Health Commissioner. He said the process is quick and simple.
“If you think you or family members have become sick from a foodborne illness, you can go to the website, you can report some information about yourself, the circumstances and that will be quickly sent on to your local health department.”
He said speed is important when it comes to situations involving foodborne illnesses.
“You hear about this in the news when there are food recalls, or outbreaks because of various infections. The sooner we know about these things, the sooner we can look into them and see if there is a pattern and see if we can intervene quickly to keep more people safe and to avoid harm.”
Dr. Stack said officials will reach out to whoever makes a submission for more information. The website is now live. To report any kind of food related illness, go to foodsafetyreporting.ky.gov.
