Kentucky Gov. Beshear Honored To Be VP Contender

U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear expressed his gratitude for being considered a potential running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris. During a recent news conference in Frankfort, Kentucky, Beshear refrained from disclosing any specifics regarding the vice presidential vetting process.

While addressing the speculation, Beshear emphasized his commitment to supporting Harris in her bid for the presidency. He stated, 'I am honored to be considered, and regardless of what comes next, I’ll do everything I can between now and Election Day to elect Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States of America.'

Beshear also took the opportunity to criticize Ohio Senator JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee. Beshear has been vocal in his disapproval of Vance's claims of having roots in Kentucky despite his upbringing in southern Ohio.

Regarding his criticisms of Vance, Beshear clarified that his actions were not influenced by his potential role on the Harris ticket or Vance's position on the GOP ticket. He asserted that his motivation stemmed from a desire to defend the people of Kentucky.

Explaining his stance, Beshear stated, 'What I said about JD Vance isn’t because of anything that is rumored about me, or any role he stepped into. It’s because he has exploited and attempted to attack my fellow Kentuckians, and it’s my job as governor to stand up when that happens.'

Beshear further condemned Vance for purportedly profiting from claims about understanding the culture of Eastern Kentucky while simultaneously disparaging its residents. The governor emphasized that such behavior was unacceptable and warranted a response to protect the dignity of Kentucky's citizens.
