Kentucky AG files opioid lawsuit against Kroger

The civil lawsuit was filed in Bullitt Circuit Court and asks for penalties of $2,000 for each willful violation of the Kentucky Consumer Protection Act. It claims Kroger’s 100-plus pharmacies distributed the equivalent of 444 million opioid doses between 2006 and 2019 – without an effective monitoring program to stop suspicious orders. The AG’s news release states the grocery chain didn’t report a single suspicious prescription in Kentucky between 2007 and 2014. Neither Coleman’s office nor Kroger responded to interview requests.
