Kentuckians now have access to online applications for opioid settlement grant money

Organizations looking to help combat the opioid epidemic in Kentucky now have an online option to apply for funding. The new online portal went live earlier this week. The funding comes from the opioid settlement fund and will be administered by the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Council.

Bryan Hubbard is the executive director and chairman of the council. He said eligibility should not be a problem for most applicants.

“Any individual or organization that is registered and in good standing with the Kentucky Secretary of State may apply for funds as well as the political subdivisions which consist of the cities and counties.”

He said the portal will help streamline the application process.

“It will be distributed to the commission’s staff as well as to myself. We will be collecting applications on an ongoing basis and those applications will then be distributed to the commission members after our Paducah town hall on November the 29th so the consideration may begin.”

Hubbard said over the 18-year payment period, the commission will be distributing around 239-million dollars. The advisory commission is also going around to communities statewide to hold town hall meetings.

The point of these meetings is to hear from Kentuckians who have been impacted by opioids.

The portal can be found at ag.ky.gov/OAAC
