Kensington murder: Man, 78, dies following ‘disturbance’ at home near Earl's Court

Detectives are investigating the murder of an elderly man killed in a disturbance at a home in central London.

The 78-year-old victim was discovered injured on Longridge Road, Kensington, near Earl’s Court around 3pm on Sunday.

Police attended the property and conducted CPR until the arrival of London Ambulance Service, but despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was taken into custody where he remains.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “We await formal identification.”

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our deepest condolences are offered to the family and all those who knew the victim.

“While our investigation remains ongoing, we are not seeking anyone else at this time.”

London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.09pm on Sunday, March 17 to reports of an assault on Longridge Road, SW5.

“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, paramedic in fast response cars, members of our tactical response unit, and an incident response officer.

“We also dispatched a team from London’s Air Ambulance.

“Sadly, one person was pronounced dead at the scene. We treated a second patient at the scene, before taking them to hospital.”
