Kenny Miller points to Michael Beale Rangers points tally and makes 'toe to toe' Celtic claim

Kenny Miller reckons Michael Beale's record as Rangers boss shows he can go 'toe to toe' with Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou and his Hoops side have won the League Cup and secured the Scottish Premiership crown for a second successive campaign with the chance of another Treble coming in a matter of weeks when they take to the field at Hampden against Inverness.

It's been a relentless charge to domestic dominance from the Parkhead side this season while in contrast the Ibrox men have been left disappointed by a trophy-less season ahead of a major summer revamp for Beale and the club. The new boss boasts a solid record in the hot seat and chalked up another win with a 3-1 victory over Hibs at Easter Road.

Since the arrival of the 42-year-old, the Light Blues have actually picked up MORE points than the champions. They have secured 55 points since Beale took over from Giovanni van Bronckhorst while the Hoops have picked up 54 - a stat that Miller believes will act as 'some sort of high' and is a good sample size of what could come.

He told BBC Sportscene: "What it means is that Rangers are on track to finish the season on some level of a high.

"There was two defeats pre-split against Aberdeen in the league fixture and to Celtic in the semi-final. Well, they have bounced back by avenging that defeat to Aberdeen and with a fantastic win over Celtic last week.

"A real, positive, convincing win over their rivals. It has gave them a chance to finish with five wins in a row. It has gave them a chance - with Michael's time in charge - to actually finish with more points than Ange and Celtic have.

"I know it's slight consolation but what it has shown is that over a decent sample size - 20 odd games - that Michael Beale's side have went toe-to-toe with Celtic with the points they have gained."
