Kenny Doughty's decision to quit Vera has left fans concerned for what's going to happen to the show from here on it, as they raise questions on who will replace him.
After hinting that a departure from the much loved ITV drama could be on the cards for him, with a 'thank you for the memories' post on Instagram at the start of the month, DS Aiden Healy star Kenny went public with his Vera exit earlier this week, telling fans: ""After 8 years & 35 Vera films I’ve made the difficult decision of handing over DS Healy’s badge. I can confirm I am leaving Vera," before going out to thank Brenda, the rest of the Vera team and fans for all of their support."
Kenny, who appeared in Coronation Street prior to his stint on Vera, went onto thank co-stars including Brenda Blethyn, who has yet to speak out on his exit, as well as viewers for their support of him and the show, which has now been a big favourite for over a decade.

And it is those same fans who are now raising big questions over what Kenny leaving Vera will mean for the rest of the cast and the programme itself, particularly given that him quitting comes months after Paul Kaye played his final scenes as pathologist Dr Malcolm Donahue.
Paul's exit was addressed by several Vera stars, including leading lady Brenda and DC Mark Edwards actor, Riley Jones, with them both sharing their upset that he'd gone. And now fansa, still reeling from that are now worried Vera's just 'not going to be the same' without him and Kenny.
Voicing those very concerns in the comments thread underneath Kenny's Instagram statement, one of his followers replied: "It’s not going to be the same ~ you and Vera have that perfect chemistry together. No Malcolm and now no you!"
A second, echoing those sentiments, another wrote: "Oh no ...... you can't leave Vera who's going to look after her - totally gutted," with a third telling the actor: " As long as V is NOT going anywhere totally love this show!
