Kenny Dalglish says only time will tell if Rangers' run in Europe has an impact on their chances of wrestling Celtic from top spot.
But the Parkhead hero reckons they'll have luck on their side when they run out to face Red Star Belgrade in the next round - because they certainly didn't have it against Dortmund.
A 2-2 draw at Ibrox saw Rangers fend off the Germans but their 6-4 aggregate win could have been even more comfortable.
They thought they had a seventh of the tie when Alfredo Morelos broke away and set up Ryan Kent but it was pulled back for an alleged foul on the halfway line.
Replays showed it was debatable but it didn't matter in the end as Gio van Bronckhorst's team saw it out.
They'll face Red Star in the next round and Dalglish reckons they'll have some good luck to cash in if they need it.
He wrote in his Sunday Post column: "Ibrox was absolutely rocking and the noise generated from the home crowd was unbelievable
"It could easily have been even better as the Gers had a goal wrongly disallowed after a VAR check.
"In the end that didn’t matter, which is maybe a good thing as they should have a wee bit of luck they can call upon, if required, in the next round against Red Star Belgrade.
"But they didn’t require the rub of the green for the huge win against the Bundesliga giants. The tie was won totally on merit.
"There were times when Rangers had to defend in numbers, and were deep inside their own penalty area.
"Given the quality of the opposition, that was no great surprise.
"That led to Allan McGregor being called into action, and when he was, he was absolutely magnificent."
Celtic's fate in Europe was a different story as they fell to a second defeat to Bodo/Glimt and crashed out of the Conference League.
Midfielder Matt O'Riley said on Saturday that could work in their favour domestically, as they can power on with no distractions.
And Dalglish reckons that may be the case - but we'll need to wait and see.
He went on: "As Rangers progress in Europe, it will be interesting to see if that becomes an intrusion into their drive to retain their Premiership title.
"Giovanni will hope it doesn’t interfere, but only time will tell.
"It’s up to the manager and the players to show they can handle the pressure and demands of the different competitions, starting today at home to Motherwell.
"After losing to Bodø/Glimt, Celtic now only need to focus on domestic matters.
"They are away to Hibs at lunchtime, looking to keep their lead at the top of the table by the close of play today."
