A new wildfire, named the Kenneth Fire, has ignited in the wider Los Angeles area, scorching through 960 acres of land northeast of Calabasas. As of now, none of the fire has been contained, posing a significant threat to residential areas on the outskirts of Calabasas, a city located approximately 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has taken swift action, announcing the deployment of 900 additional firefighters to combat the blaze. This reinforcement aims to contain the fire and protect the communities at risk.
Authorities have made a crucial arrest in connection to the fire. A man was apprehended near the fire's vicinity on suspicion of arson. The arrest followed a witness report of the individual attempting to ignite a fire. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the arrest, which took place on Ybarra Road in Woodland Hills. At this time, law enforcement has not established a direct link between the detainee and the Kenneth Fire.
The situation remains critical as firefighters work tirelessly to gain control over the Kenneth Fire and prevent further destruction. Residents in the affected areas are urged to stay informed and follow evacuation orders to ensure their safety.
