Kendrick Perkins issues apology to Steve Kerr

Steve Kerr has received a significant amount of criticism this season. The veteran coach has seen his team struggle in recent months as they deal with an aging core, suspensions, injuries, and multiple players starting to slow out of the gate. However, recently, we’ve begun to see the Golden State Warriors begin to turn a corner.

Due to this, Kerr isn’t under the microscope as much as he was earlier in the basketball calendar. During a recent episode of ESPN’s NBA Today, former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins issued an apology for his criticism of Kerr, noting how he had been proven wrong.

“Let me apologize to Steve Kerr,” Perkins said. “I’ve been very critical of him. It was warranted. I kind of overdid it a little bit, which is cool, right? At the end of the day, here’s the thing: when I look at the Golden State Warriors, are they moving in the right direction? Yes. In a championship direction? No. But as far as their youth movement? Hell yeah.”

Now that the Warriors are getting healthy, and Kerr has the entire veteran core at his disposal, Golden State has begun to look like their usual selves. Furthermore, Chris Paul and Gary Payton II are still to return, which will further strengthen Kerr’s overall rotations and the Warriors’ chances of success.

Kerr has also overseen an influx of younger talent into the rotation. Warriors fans will want their team to be contending for a championship whenever possible. But it’s clear that the future looks bright and that Kerr has been a part of that resurgence.
