Kena: Bridge of Spirits is coming to Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One on Aug. 15, 2024, after spending quite some time as a PlayStation exclusive since it was released in 2021.
The game is described as a slick and amazing-looking action role-playing game and is an impressive debut title for developer Ember Lab. While Kena: Bridge of Spirits may lack some polish and final touches, it makes up for it with its atmosphere, visuals, and combat.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits Coming to Xbox
Players can find themselves enjoying the game's surprisingly edgy combat but spending enough time can result in them being slightly disappointed by its relatively bland storyline and straightforward level design.
Additionally, there is what other players see as an overall simplicity to the tools and tricks that you have at your disposal. This makes it difficult to find anything that is truly unique or exciting when playing for a long time, according to PureXbox.
In Kena: Bridge of Spirits, the titular protagonist, Kena, has a role as a spirit guide whose job is to assist spirits who find themselves lost between life and death. This could be a result of unfinished business, emotional traumas, or other things.
At the start of our hero's journey, she is traveling toward a sacred mountain shrine but soon discovers that a particularly powerful forest spirit is corrupting and twisting the world.
The game tasks players with getting rid of the forest's corruption using your souls-lite combat techniques and pals known as Rot.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits features a surprisingly personal adventure as players slowly learn of the protagonist's personal character traits as she continues to interact with the spirits.
A Beautiful Action Role-Playing Game
The game takes inspiration from other games for its exploration and combat but adds a unique feature of building up energy with attacks to command Rot and make use of their abilities, said DigitalTrends.
Some of these are capable of stunning enemies while you will command the Rot in certain situations to combine into a more powerful form.
When not in combat, Kena will regularly have to command her companions to move certain objects for her to solve environmental puzzles.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits also has a ton of achievements for players to complete and while some are hidden, the majority show what kind of a journey you can expect in Ember Lab's game. One of these is using five Rot actions in a single combat encounter, according to TrueAchievements.
