Kemar Roofe provides painful Rangers injury update as he admits physical and mental 'merry go round' after new blow

Kemar Roofe has vowed that he will be better for a hip operation that provides a fresh challenge to his Rangers career.

The striker has proven his prowess in front of goal during his time at Ibrox but that has also been plagued by injuries. This term, he's featured just six times and for 147 minutes, scoring twice, including a League Cup semi-final goal. Michael Beale has confirmed the 30-year-old will miss the rest of the season after a hip operation and Roofe admits he has needed the procedure for some time.

It hasn't been something he has been able to get due to his own desire to contribute to success. But now is the time to prepare for a better term in the 2023/24 campaign. Writing on Instagram, the former Leeds forward said: "This season has been a physical and mental merry-go round but with this successful hip operation I’m hoping it puts an end to it all.

"It’s an operation that I’ve needed for a long time but never found time to fit it in when trying to fight for silverware and success. Playing with pain and a lack of movement can only last for so long.

"Pain is weakness leaving the body."
