Kemar Roofe in fresh Rangers injury nightmare as cursed striker set for another spell on sidelines

Injury-prone Kemar Roofe could be out until after the World Cup after Gio van Bronckhorst revealed he will miss the next "couple of weeks" of action.

The Rangers striker had missed the entire season so far before making cameo appearances against Dundee and Livingston to ease Van Bronckhorst's selection woes. He wasn't named in the squad to face Napoli in the Champions League as he wasn't registered due to his previous injury but he had been expected to play some part against Aberdeen this weekend after getting off the bench in their last two domestic games.

But speaking ahead of the clash with Jim Goodwin 's team at Ibrox, Van Bronckhorst revealed he has suffered another setback and will be out of that game and is set to miss the next "couple of weeks" - which could rule him out until after the World Cup with the season due to pause after their trip to St Mirren on November 12. He said: " Kemar Roofe has picked up an injury so will be missing for a couple weeks. No injuries from the game midweek."

With just five games now until the break and injuries mounting elsewhere, Van Bronckhorst admits he's looking forward to the break and the chance for his squad to recover. He added: "It is a hectic schedule for all clubs in the run-up to the World Cup break. We will use the break to recover and get more time on the training pitch. It also gives us time to get more players back from injury and ready to play."
