Giovanni van Bronckhorst is "optimistic" about having Kemar Roofe back for Rangers’ Europa League semi-final second leg clash with RB Leipzig on Thursday.
The Jamaica International has been out of action for the last three games after picking up a knee injury in the Scottish Cup semi final win over Celtic.
Van Bronckhorst has been without a fit recognised striker in the absence of Roofe but, according to The Scottish Sun, the 29-year-old is ‘winning his fitness battle’ for the massive showdown with the Germans.
Aaron Ramsey has also been out of action for the same length of time having also limped out of the Hampden clash with the Hoops on April 17.
Roofe posted a picture on his personal Instagram account inside a hyperbaric oxygen chamber as he stepped up his rehabilitations and is reportedly resizing well to treatment.
Van Bronckhorst had been hopeful of Roofe and Ramsey returning for the clash against the Bundesliga side at the time of their injuries.
Speaking in the aftermath of the win over Celtic at Hampden, he said: “ Ramsey, we will hopefully have him back around the Leipzig home game.
“We also had a problem with Roofe after the game with his knee, for him it is the same out for some weeks and hopefully returns around the Leipzig home match.”
