Delighted Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst has hailed the impact of Kemar Roofe after he was brought in from the cold at Ibrox.
Ahead of the clash with Aberdeen, Roofe had been struggling for game time under the Dutchman.
His only full 90 minutes since the Dutchman's arrival came in the Scottish Cup rout of Annan, and he had only managed 10 minutes of action since defeat to Celtic.
Earlier this week, the Jamaica cap vowed on social media that he would always be ready for a chance in a veiled swipe over his game time.
However, after declaring himself "focused" despite a lack of minutes, Roofe proved his point when he came up with Rangers ' winner against the Dons to ramp up the pressure on Premiership leaders Celtic.
Following the match, Van Bronckhorst stated he sees Roofe as key to his first-team plans: "Kemar is very important.
"In the last few months he has struggled a little bit with some injuries but he's still working hard on the training ground to be ready.
"I gave him a compliment in the locker room because it's not easy, especially for the players who haven’t played a lot in recent weeks, to keep training hard and wait for your chance.
"Today his chance came and he made the difference, so I am really pleased for him.
"In the coming weeks, when we will also play again in Europe, there are a lot of games to be played and we need to use everyone."
