Woolwich bus murder: Police name two teens they are hunting after fatal stabbing of Kelyan Bokassa, 14

Police have launched an appeal to find two teenagers over the fatal knife murder of a boy on a double-decker bus in Woolwich last week.

Kelyan Bokassa was attacked on the Route 472 double-decker on Woolwich Church Road near the junction with the A205 South Circular Road in south London at 2.28pm last Tuesday. The teenager died at the scene.

A week on, Met Police detectives have named Colin Chabikwa, 15, and Mosawar Zazi, 16, as being among those they wanted to speak to in connection with Kelyan’s murder.

They urged anybody with information about their whereabouts to contact them immediately by calling 999.

Met Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, who is leading the investigation, said: “Firstly, my thoughts are with the family and friends of Kelyan.

“I know his death has deeply affected many in the community and I would like to thank people in Woolwich for the support they have shown.

Appeal: Colin Chabikwa (MPS)

“Officers have been undertaking increased weapons searches, reassurance patrols and house-to-house enquiries. I know these can be disruptive, however it has been vital, and your patience is appreciated.

“Our team of detectives is working around the clock to identify those responsible for Kelyan’s murder and appeal for your help to locate Chabikwa and Zazi.

"I would urge anybody with information about their whereabouts to contact us immediately by calling 999.

Appeal: Mosawar Zazi (MPS)

"If seen, we urge the public not to approach them, but to contact police as soon as possible."

CCTV was released by officers of two boys on a bus police say are the two teenagers.

Kelyan’s mother, Mary Bokassa, earlier spoke of her devastation on learning of her son’s death, saying he had been groomed by gangs from the age of six.

Speaking to media from her flat in Greenwich, Ms Bokassa described her son as “caring”, saying he had an interest in both football and music.

"I feel hurt because I tried to prevent it. I've tried so many, so many times. I screamed it, I said 'my son is going to be killed'”, she told the BBC.

She added: “He cares about the people around him. He loved to have his friends around and when they were round he would want to cook for them.

"He was very articulate.

"He knows what he likes and knows how to express it.

"He was good in music. Anything he loves... he was doing to his best ability. He was good at football... and he was was extremely good at drawing."

Community leaders have warned of a bloody turf war that is tearing south London apart.

Some 10 teenagers were killed in London last year, nine of whom were the victims of stabbings while one died in a shooting.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101 giving the reference 3795/07JAN25 or to remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online.
