BBC viewers were horrified by the latest episode of Kelvin's Big Farming Adventure, in which Kelvin Fletcher served his family lamb, which they had been raising themselves, for dinner.
The documentary series, which debuted last month, follows the former Emmerdale actor, 38, and his family as learn how to run a 120-acre farm located in the Peak District.
The latest episode - which aired last night - saw him take one of the sheep that they had reared to a slaughterhouse, with this presenting a challenge for Kelvin and his wife Liz.
Discussing raising animals that will eventually be slaughtered for food, she said: "That's the hardest part of farming really. They're not pets and we have to make that decision."
Whilst en route to a slaughterhouse at the local butchers with a sheep onboard, Kelvin said he had a "heavy heart." He however added: "This is farming. We've got to do this."
The former soap star said he felt "calmer" after being invited inside to see the process, with him later returning to the butchers to receive money for providing the livestock.
Whilst there, he was shown the carcass of the sheep that he had reared, with Kelvin seen asking if he could buy some of it to take home - with him opting for one of its legs.
Viewers later saw him showing the produce to his daughter Marnie, five, with him asking: "What do you think? Can you believe that was your lamb?" She responded: "What happened to his head?"
He replied: "Well the butchers kept his head and kept his legs and some other bits. I've just kept one leg for us."
The family were shown having a lamb dinner, though the previous scenes left some viewers horrified. They took to social media following the scenes to share their thoughts.
One viewer said on Twitter : "Took him off to slaughter, then ate him. How could anyone do that to a lamb you have looked after?"

"Nothing beats a 4 year old preparing a lamb for slaughter," commented one viewer, whilst another tweeted: "Really felt the lamb story tonight on Kelvin's Big Farming Adventure #pescatarian."
Not everyone condemned such scenes though, with one viewer writing: "Thank you for using a small abattoir [...] and being so honest with your experience."
The episode also saw his former Emmerdale co-stars Adam Thomas, 33, and Danny Miller, 31, visit the farm. Other viewers shared praise over the episode in tweets amid its broadcast.
Addressing Kelvin, one viewer said: "Bloody love [this show]. You and your family are TV gold." Another commented: "Love it - another fab episode tonight. [...] Great show."
Another said: "Am loving watching this series - it's so great to see you finding your way, but also your passion for it. Great episode tonight [...] will be sad to see it end."
