Kelsey Parker shares struggle of Tom's final day and tough conversation on Loose Women

Kelsey Parker held it together on Loose Women as she spoke about her final day with 'soulmate' husband Tom, before The Wanted star's death at the age of just 33 and how she explained his passing to their daughter.

Popstar and big fan favourite Tom broke the devastating news in 2020 that he'd been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour vowing to fight the cancer all the way. And he most definitely did that, staging a charity event at the Royal Albert Hall alongside his bandmates from The Wanted and kept his promise to them and the group's fans to join them on tour, bringing the house down as he appeared at a number of dates including, what was to be his final ever performance in Liverpool.

It was wife Kelsey who broke the news of Tom's death on Instagram in a heartbreaking post which read: "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we confirm Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with all of his family by his side.

"Our hearts are broken. Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence. We are truly thankful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children."

Fans lined the streets last month for Tom's funeral in London and, giving her first TV interview since saying a final goodbye to the man she called her soulmate, Kelsey bravely opened up about her final day with him. After talking about the 'magical,' moments they shared together as a couple and then as a family with their children, Kelsey talked about how she struggled with his inevitable death.

Joining the panel in the studio, she said: "It was really, really tough. One of the days, I just lay in bed in the morning and it just felt like someone had dropped weights on me and I thought 'how can I actually get out of bed this morning and get to that hospice?'

"And on the day he actually passed, I knew they'd sedated him and I knew he was going to die that day and that I had to find something within to go 'you can go to that hospice and you can be there for him. I'd been there for him all this time; I had to be there for him at the end and that's how it was meant to be."

Kelsey also explained how she told the couple's eldest child, daughter Aurelia, about Tom's death, saying: "On the morning he died, I said to her I've got to go and make sure that the angels take daddy. He'll be going and the angels are going to collect him, but I need to make sure that daddy goes to the angels. That was obviously a hard conversation and then the next day I woke up and had to tell her her dad was dead."

Kelsey then shared the incredible support of those closest to her, telling Nadia Sawalha: "I had an army around me. From when he was diagnosed, we had people behind us and supporting us and I think that's how we got through it."
