Kelsey Grammer feels "very positive" about the future of 'Frasier'.
The 70-year-old actor's comedy reboot was recently dropped by Paramount+ after two seasons but the star - who plays the titular psychiatrist, Dr. Frasier Crane - is confident that not only will another broadcaster pick up the programme, but the show will do better elsewhere.
He told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: “There’s a better home for it. I mean, obviously, they didn’t really promote or spend much time on it.
“The fellow that worked at Paramount Plus when we first sold the show there left, and so it sort of fell into their laps, the next administration, without having any real conscious and what to do with it. So I think they gave it sort of a good try, but they weren’t particularly passionate about the project.
“We’ll end up somewhere where people are passionate about it.
"Listen, it’s got a huge audience, a big following, and if people know where to find it, I think they will.”
And Kelsey is hopeful his former 'Cheers' co-star Ted Danson could reprise his role as Sam Malone in the next season of 'Frasier'.
He said: “Ted and I might visit actually something together. We’ve been talking about a couple ideas. Maybe on ‘Frasier.’ We don’t know.
"There’s certainly still some fields to be mined there.
“As long as its still a relevant relationship, it will still be relevant for the show. [Sam] and Frasier got along pretty well, discovered some things together about life. They could still do that.”
However, Kelsey there's no plans to reboot 'Cheers', the precursor to 'Frasier'.
He said: “‘Cheers’ will not come back. I mean, Jimmy Burrows has always said, ‘No, that bar doesn’t exist anymore.'”
Kelsey joined the 'Cheers' cast in 1984 and he recently recalled receiving some words of advice from Ted.
Speaking to his former co-star on his 'Where Everybody Knows Your Name' podcast, Kelsey said: "When I turned 40, you came up and said, 'You know what it means, don't you? Now that you're 40, it means you're finally worth having a conversation with'. That was f****** brilliant. I always loved that.
"I thought about it, and I've repeated it. My love for you has always been as easy as the day. You know, as easy as the sunrise."
