Kelsea Ballerini says she is determined to go ahead with freezing her eggs before she turns 30 after admitting that it had been a bone of contention in her marriage to Morgan Evans.
The Heartfirst singer, 29, and fellow musician Evans, 37, got divorced last November and she has not shied away from sharing what caused the breakdown of their relationship.
After putting out candid EP Rolling Up The Welcome Mat on Valentine’s Day, she appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast where she revealed that she and Evans had clashed over starting a family.
Ballerini said she had raised the subject of egg harvesting with Evans when she was 28 and it hadn’t gone down well.
“Cause he was ready. He was like, ‘I don’t want to be an old dad,’ is what he kept saying. And I was like, ‘I’m not there yet, and I can’t do that to save this and give you something that I’m not ready for,’” she told host Alex Cooper.
Now, with Evans out of the picture, she seems determined to press ahead, telling the Evening Standard that it’s one of the things she wants to achieve before hitting the big 3-0.
Adding: “Why not!”
Another thing she is keen to try is acting, but admits that a fear of failure has previously held her back.
Speaking ahead of her sold out show at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Saturday, she said: “I want to try acting. For the longest time I said I would never do it and honestly it’s because I have a fear of failure and I’m scared that I’m going to totally suck at it and I might.
“Putting yourself out there is the bravest thing you can do and that’s when all the good stuff happens so I’m just putting myself out there in all the ways.”
Hopefully she will be able to get a few pointers from Outer Banks actor Chase Stokes, 30, who she recently confirmed she is seeing after “sliding into his DMs”.
Other things Ballerini is hoping to tick off from her bucket list this year include releasing a new album and a trip to Hawaii. Given her birthday is in September, she had better get cracking.
