In a heartwarming Instagram post, Kelly Rizzo, the wife of the late comedian Bob Saget, celebrated his daughter Aubrey Saget on her birthday. Rizzo, who has been a loving stepmother to Aubrey, expressed her adoration and gratitude for her, sharing an intimate message on social media.
'To the sweetest and most amazing person/angel and stepdaughter - happy birthday, [Aubrey]!! I love you so very much, and I'm beyond grateful for you every day. You deserve the BEST day, and I can't wait to celebrate with you in a couple of weeks. Love, Stepmommy Kelly,' Rizzo wrote.
In addition to her heartfelt words, Rizzo also included several photos of the family, including some featuring just Aubrey and herself, one from Aubrey's wedding day, and two of them with Bob Saget. Aubrey, touched by the gesture, reposted Rizzo's Instagram Story on her own account, accompanied by a red heart emoji.
Since Bob Saget's sudden passing in January 2022 due to head trauma, Rizzo and his three daughters have remained closely bonded. Reflecting on the past year without her husband, Rizzo shared her sentiments with Today, saying, 'When I think about the fact that I haven't talked to or seen my husband in a year, that's very surreal and very, very strange. The three of them [Aubrey, Lara, and Jennifer Saget] are just everything to me because they were everything to him. Keeping them close, really, is everything.'
In recent years, Saget's daughters have also played a significant role in inspiring and supporting Rizzo's career decisions. When she joined Fox's reality series Special Forces: World's Toughest Test, Rizzo sought reassurance from the girls. 'I'm like, 'You guys are okay with me doing this, right?'' she shared in an interview with PEOPLE. 'And they're like, 'Yeah, it looks cool.' And I was like, 'You think your dad would be okay with me doing this? Right?' And they're like, 'Yeah, we think he'd be proud. He'd think you're crazy, but we think he'd be proud.''
Rizzo's dedication to preserving Saget's legacy and embracing positivity amid her grief is truly remarkable. Her profound love for the family has motivated her to honor Saget's memory and transform this challenging experience into a chance for growth.
Speaking of Saget's ability to turn adversity into something positive, Rizzo reflected, 'He had so much loss in his life, and he turned everything into a positive, reflective experience. If he did that, I want to use this experience in the same way.'
The strong bond between Rizzo and Saget's daughters serves as a testament to the power of love, support, and resilience in navigating life's difficulties. As they continue to lean on each other for strength and embrace the memories they shared with Bob Saget, their blended family remains a source of inspiration and admiration for many.
