Kelly Clarkson recently shared some insights into her time on American Idol, revealing that she once got in trouble for not getting her glam done. During an episode of the 'Smartless' podcast, Clarkson recounted how she would wear makeup for the stage but not for behind-the-scenes filming, which didn't sit well with a high-ranking producer on the show.
Despite facing challenges early in her career, Clarkson emerged as the winner of the first season of American Idol in 2002. She toured with other top finalists and humorously recalled being the 'most amazing person to tour with' because she avoided the makeup and hair chair.
Clarkson explained that due to being highly allergic to products near her eyes, she doesn't enjoy wearing makeup, although she appreciates the artistry behind it. She also shared her initial concerns about being pigeonholed into acting after learning that the winner of American Idol would star in a movie. However, she successfully negotiated the release of her first single, 'A Moment Like This,' which helped establish her as a serious artist.
Despite the initial challenges, Clarkson went on to have a successful music career, releasing 10 albums. She later joined The Voice as a coach and launched her own talk show, 'The Kelly Clarkson Show,' in 2019.
