Kellie Harrington 'would love to fight' on Katie Taylor Croke Park undercard

Kellie Harrington has said that she would be willing to fight on a Katie Taylor undercard in Dublin.

Harrington revealed the news while talking to Joe Duffy on Liveline this afternoon. She also stated that instead of taking a fee for the fight, she would prefer Eddie Hearn to make a donation to charity.

Harrington would likely fight as an amateur if an appearance was to come to fruition. The 2020 Olympic Gold medalist has already announced her intention to retain her amateur status, in a bid to defend her medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Croke Park was on the mind of Taylor in the immediate aftermath of her split-decision victory over Amanda Serrano. After such a close battle, many people including Taylor and Serrano's promoter Jake Paul, were open to the possibility of a rematch.

"We could sell out Croke Park" said Taylor

"Imagine fighting in front of 80,000 people at Croke Park. Absolutely that can happen."

Speculation has run rampant that Taylor is set to rematch Amanda Serrano in Croke Park later this year. And with news breaking this afternoon that over 1.5 million watched Taylor clash with Serrano on Saturday night, a stadium seems the only likely venue to host what would be one of the biggest rematches in history.

Harrington, who recently withdrew from the amateur world champions due to injury, took to Twitter on Saturday night to praise Taylor for her amazing performance.

"Incredible, absolutely incredible"

"What a warrior KT"

While the first fight has just happened, a rematch between Taylor and Serrano at Croke Park is looking increasingly likely. And so too, is the prospect of our 2012 and 2020 Olympic Champions fighting on the same card.
