Olympic boxer Kellie Harrington has revealed when her book will be released in an interview with RTE.
She announced at the beginning of this year that she was penning an autobiography with beloved Irish writer Roddy Doyle, and told fans at the time that she was "super excited" for them to read it.
Speaking to RTE, she revealed that the book will be released in October of this year.
A blurb of the book describes Katie's journey to boxing rather than "going down the wrong path in life," the description reads.
The book will chart her sometimes troubled childhood, her unlikely rise to greatness and her continuing commitment to living a normal life which involves her remaining an amateur boxer and keeping her job as a cleaner in a psychiatric hospital.
Kellie told RTE: "It will be out in October. We’re finished the writing so now it’s just going through all the editing, but myself and Roddy are done.
"I miss my chats with him, we had great craic doing it and it certainly was an experience and an emotional rollercoaster."
"Roddy is such a great person. He knows more about my life than anybody at this stage.
"When the opportunity came around to do the book, I said to the publishers, it’s Roddy Doyle or nobody, so I had to get his phone number and I met him for a coffee to persuade him."
Since announcing plans to write her book with Roddy, life has been busy for Kellie. In April, she tied the knot with her now wife Mandy Loughlin and soon after, the pair secured a mortgage. She was also awarded Freedom of the City of Dublin in June.
"It’s been an absolute whirlwind and everything has come so fast. It’s just been something after something," Kellie previously told Dublin Live.
"The highlight of the year was marrying Mandy. Today was great, but marrying Mandy was one of the best times of my life."
