Leigh Francis, better known as the iconic character Keith Lemon is set to perform in Leeds soon for the first time ever.
The Leeds born comedian, who has won a BAFTA, will perform all across Yorkshire, including in Bradford, York, Halifax, and Sheffield, before his massive homecoming in Leeds on Saturday, April 6.
But while Keith Lemon is famous for failing remarkably when it comes to women, in real life Leigh Francis is actually happily married.
Leigh is famous for his character Keith Lemon but he originally rose to fame for various characters on Channel 4’s sketch comedy show Bo’ Selecta! - which itself led to an apology many years later.
He was born and grew up in Leeds, and went on to find fame presenting Celebrity Juice and Through the Keyhole on ITV. His work in Celebrity Juice won him a BAFTA.
His work on Bo Selecta! however became subject of controversy much later, with Leigh being forced to issue a tear filed apology over "frequently" blacking up on the show while portraying Craig David, Mel B and Michael Jackson.
In a video posted on his Instagram, he said: "Back in 2002 I did a show called Bo’ Selecta, I portrayed many black people. Back then I didn’t think anything about it, people didn’t say anything, I’m not going to blame other people.
“Been talking to some people. I didn’t realise how offensive it was back then.
“I just want to apologise, I just want to say sorry for any upset I caused whether I was Michael Jackson, Craig David, Trisha Goddard, all people I’m a big fan of. I guess we’re all on a learning journey.”
Leigh Francis' personal life
Francis married his childhood sweetheart Jill Carter, who he has been with for a whopping 31 years. Jill is a beauty therapist.
He has two daughters with her, named Matilda and Dolly. Francis has been married for a staggering 21 years and lives with his family in North London.
But despire this, Leigh Francis's wife is rarely seen. Jill has shyed away from the spotlight and is not a celebrity.
Francis also keeps her away from the spotlight, and doesn't always post her. However, he has acknlowedged her, and in October 2022 posted her saying: "Happy anniversary to my most favourite and best!"
