Director Nag Ashwin had revealed that as Keerthy Suresh transforms into Savitri, she has 110 different looks. To add a bit of a perspective, in a usual commercial film, a female lead would have a maximum of 40 changes to play her part. Actor Keerthy who plays the part of Savitri in the biopic had to go through 110 changes so that she could do justice to the role of Savitri.
In the last couple of weeks, the filmmakers have revealed about 20 of the 110 looks through posters, movie stills and teaser. Keerthy has a canny likeness to Savitri in all of the stills and the looks have only helped in creating a good buzz around the film itself.

From the black and white looks that were recreations of how Savitri looked in her films to the off screen appearances and her personal time, each of the appearance was meticulously developed. Director Nag Ashwin had earlier said, “Savitri garu had a certain way of doing her makeup, especially her eyebrows. She used sun glasses of a particular style and she would apply makeup even for appearances. We kept all of this in mind when the looks were decided. One should also take note that for a female actor, a film has about 40 changes, but in Mahanati, Keerthy had to go through 110 changes.”
Mahanati in Telugu and Nadigaiyar Thilagam in Tamil is slated to release on silverscreen on May 9. The film has music scored by Mickey J Meyer and is produced by Vyjayanthi Films.
