'Keep fighting' - Ominous signs for Newcastle United but that can change with victory at Leeds

Newcastle United travel to Leeds United this Saturday hoping to gain three valuable points.

Leeds are already ten points ahead of United with any hope they would be dragged into a relegation battle seemingly fading - especially after the Yorkshire side beat high flying West Ham 3-2 last weekend.

United drew 1-1 with Watford in their last game in what was a bitterly disappointing result - and leaves Newcastle 19th in the table, two points from safety.

In this week's match preview, via The Everything is Black and White Podcast , Andrew Musgrove and John Gibson look ahead to the game as well address the frustration of the transfer window.

Speaking about the need for three points - but fearing they'll only be handed a defeat, Gibbo remarked: "The last two games, I was convinced Newcastle would win.

"I was convinced Newcastle would beat Cambridge in the FA Cup - how wrong could I be? They were humiliated!

"I was convinced, with another signing in, that we'd beat Watford, how wrong was I?

"I wasn't just two minutes wrong - we had one shot on target during the whole game.

"Now we play Leeds and with the possibility of nobody coming through the door (before Saturday) - I can only see one result at Leeds, and that is Newcastle lose."

Asked if Newcastle did indeed lose, would that be the end for the club's Premier League status, Gibbo added: "I think the writing has told us that it's been curtains for an awfully long time now.

"I think Newcastle have been down but it's not too late to reverse that - you have to keep fighting.

"We have lived through a horrendous season but it's only halfway through, there's still another half to play but there is nothing giving us hope at the moment.

"I find it quite astonishing that Newcastle are still in touch with everyone at the bottom when they have won only one game all season!

"The bottom is now down to four-horse race - and three are going to suffer."
