Kaye Adams has revealed that she surprised herself by agreeing to take part in the 2022 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The Loose Women star, 59, is set to show off her dance moves on the famous BBC One dance floor this weekend, but Kaye never in a million years thought she would be up for taking part in Strictly - all because of her age.
During an appearance on Lorraine on Friday, Kaye admitted that she was previously very insecure about her age, and sometimes even lied to people about how old she actually was after beloved mum used to always 'knock off a few years'.
However, after realising that she should instead embrace her age and feel lucky to have made it to 59-years-old, Kaye decided that the time was right to strut her stuff on the Strictly dance floor.
"I surprised myself by agreeing to do it," Kaye admitted. "But it's the last year of my fifties, and I started this podcast called 'How To Be Sixty' because I have always lied about and skated around my age.
"I must have negative connotations because my mum did. My mum lied about her age. If I had of told my mum's real age in public, she would have not been happy."
Kaye soon realised that any reservations she had about not joining Strictly because of her age was 'stupid', and so, she decided to take part to make herself proud.
"I got to the stage where I thought, 'this is stupid'. Why am I self-limiting myself and being embarrassed about being lucky enough to get to this age. I should be grateful.
"Maybe it's time to shake things up a bit and just do something different, and that's what I'm doing," the Loose Women star added.
It comes after Craig Revel Horwood said he is 'worried' about Kaye's performing in skimpy costumes on this year's Strictly Come Dancing.
The show judge, 57, has concerns about the Loose Women anchor's 'sex appeal' and hip action when she has to dance Latin routines on the BBC show.
"Kaye Adams I'm slightly concerned about! I think she'll do quite well at the ballroom stuff, but I'm worried about the Latin," he said.
"The sex appeal and the hip action and rhythm, things like the cha-cha-cha might prove ... a challenge, darling. It's the selling yourself bare - the costumes are all quite skimpy with the Latin."
