Kaye Adams stepped 'too far out of her comfort zone' during her Strictly debut

Kaye Adams has revealed all about her first live performance on Strictly Come Dancing over the weekend.

The Loose Women presenter, 59, admits she was 'out of her comfort zone' and was nervous before her debut dance on the BBC show, and even reveals she's picked up a 'wee groin strain' following her Tango with professional dance partner Kai Widdrington on Saturday night [September 24].

Kaye and Kai impressed on the dancefloor during Strictly Come Dancing's big live return, getting a score of 21 from the judges and winning compliments from viewers watching at home, with one writing on social media at the time: "Amazing tango @kayadams you looked fantastic! Such a hard dance in week 1."

Looking back on her performance, Kaye says: "I have never ever danced before. I know people say 'out of my comfort zone' very lightly.

"But boy, that was so far out of my comfort zone it was unbelievable."

"There just comes a moment where you either lock yourself in the bathroom or you get out there and do it."

According to the Daily Star, the Scottish TV presenter goes on to add: "I have got a wee groin strain but you don't want to hear about that. That is TMI [too much information]."

"It is a mental challenge I would say more than everything else, and then you've got the emotional challenge on top of it which is: 'Do I look like a 59-year-old sack of potatoes?' which was going through my head!" Kaye admitted as she appeared on Monday's edition of Loose Women after taking to the dancefloor over the weekend.

Going on to discuss dance partner Kai on the ITV show, Kaye gushed as she told her co-hosts: "He is the most brilliant teacher. He is such a mature guy, he's 27, he is so patient and such a great teacher."

Last month, the presenter revealed her Loose Women colleague and former Strictly contestant Ruth Langsford shared some very intimate advice with her ahead of appearing on the BBC series.

"She was brilliant, she told me it warts and all but in a really nice supportive way, which was nice," Kaye explained when discussing what pearls of wisdom Ruth has shared with her.

She continued to tell Closer magazine: "She did make me laugh, she said: 'You will get very sweaty 'down there' when you're training. So bring a little ladies' bag with pantyliners."

Ruth was partnered with Anton Du Beke when she appeared on the BBC show in 2017, and still speaks highly of the professional dancer five years on from their partnership.

"Anton is so funny. He reminds me a lot of my husband in terms of banter. We share a similar sense of humour, which is why I’m so thrilled he’s my partner," Ruth told HELLO! magazine when chatting about the dancer-turned-judge at the time.

She added: "Anton’s a good teacher and we work hard, but he makes everything so much fun. He’s intuitive, too. He knows instinctively when I’m tired or struggling or about to cry. That’s when he’ll stop and say, ‘Let’s go and get a cup of tea.’ So he senses what I need, when I need it."

*Strictly Come Dancing 2022's is on BBC One every Saturday night from 6.45pm
