Kaye Adams says that her early exit from Strictly Come Dancing made her 'long-held insecurities' worse - for a few weeks at least.
The Loose Women host, from Grangemouth, was first to be booted off the BBC reality competition when it first launched in September.
Kaye, 59, has opened up about her journey on Instagram while telling her fans that Strictly isn't a show to 'heal personal wounds'.
The Scots TV and radio presenter added that despite her journey being different, she learned a lot.
In the post to her 150K followers, Kaye wrote: "So first of all, huge congratulations to all four finalists last night. Every one of them had earned the right to pick up that Glitterball.
"My ‘journey’ was very different but still, I learned a lot. My biggest realisation was that external validation will never fix what’s broken inside.
"If I am entirely honest, I didn’t even appreciate it initially - I probably did , deep-down, hope that doing Strictly would help me tackle long-held insecurities and hang-ups about getting older. Instead, my early exit probably made them worse…at least for a few weeks.
"But, what the hell was I expecting? Strictly is an incredible TV show made by incredible people but its purpose is to entertain mass audiences not to heal personal wounds. That has to be down to me.
"We need to be our own judge. The approval of our nearest and dearest and those we have close contact with matters but really, not anyone else's. I was kind of dreading going back for the final night.
"I felt like a bit of a chump but, in the end, it gave me a little bit of the joy I was looking for in the group dance. I haven’t watched my other dances but I have watched this video several times and it makes me smile. I know how s**t-scared I was sitting backstage but I got myself out there and gave it a go.
"For that, I give myself a decent seven. Bonnie and Ian gave me a 10 and that meant a lot. To all the wonderful people involved in Strictly, especially @kaiwidd I give you my thanks.
"Ps in case you are wondering… I had my hearing aids in and they didn’t fall out when I did the 360! #bbcstrictly #bbcstrictlycomedancing #strictly2022 #howtobe60."
