Kaye Adams confirms Strictly spot as Loose Women attempt to trick fans with Carol McGiffin stunt

Kaye Adams finally confirmed herself for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing after Loose Women bosses tried to trick fans with a stunt involving Carol McGiffin.

It was widely reported on Thursday that journalist and TV anchor Kaye had joined the Strictly line-up for this year and as This Morning presenters Josie Gibson and Vernon Kay crossed to her during their broadcast on Friday, Kaye confirmed that there would be a big announcement coming up to do with the hit BBC dance programme.

Viewers had to wait until the final part of Loose Women for the cat to be let out of the bag and even when it was, it was far from straight forward. Kaye read out a whole list of potential contestants, including herself and other Loose Women colleagues, as dancers strutted in from behind the scenes to uncover Carol who was hidden behind them.

Carol shouted: "It's me!" before backtracking and admitting that it wasn't. At that point, Kaye still stayed tight-lipped and went through the list again as the dancers returned, before giving in and admitting it was indeed her who will be doing Strictly this year.

Her announcement was greeted with cheers and hugs from Carol, Denise Welch and Sunetra Sarkar, with Sunetra herself a former Strictly contestantr.

Once the confetti had settled on her big Strictly news, Kaye said: "I said I wanted to make the last year of my fifties memorable and i can’t think of a better way of doing it than showing the world my two left feet. Pray for me!”

The Loose Women panel were joined via video call by another one of their colleagues, Nadia Sawalha, who praised Kaye for "stepping well out of her comfort zone."
