Kawhi Leonard, the star player for the LA Clippers, will be sitting out of Tuesday's game against the Sacramento Kings due to right knee soreness. Leonard returned to Los Angeles for additional treatment after the team discovered the issue following their victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.
Coach Ty Lue mentioned that Leonard's status for the upcoming game against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday is uncertain. The team is hopeful that Leonard will be able to return for that matchup, but it remains to be seen.
In the game against the Hornets, Leonard played 37 minutes and contributed 23 points to the Clippers' win. Following the game, he was sent back to Los Angeles for further evaluation and treatment upon the team's arrival in Sacramento.
This season has been relatively healthy for Leonard, as he has participated in 68 games so far, marking his highest number of appearances since the 2016-17 season when he played 74 games for the San Antonio Spurs. He has been averaging 23.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
After the Sacramento game, the Clippers have seven more games remaining in the regular season, including two back-to-back matchups. Leonard's absence will be felt by the team, but they are hopeful for his return in the near future as they continue their push towards the playoffs.
